Distribution Automation

Automation is a set of intelligent, integrated systems (software and hardware) that enables a utility to monitor, coordinate and operate the components of the electrical system in real time. Distribution automation consists of SCADA software installed at an Operations Center that interacts online, via a telecommunications system, with the IEDs (reclosers, regulators and switches) across the distribution grid.

We handle every aspect of implementation — design, configuration of the SCADA software and IEDs, commissioning, training and post-implementation support.

By controlling the system in real time, automation reduces response and outage time and operating costs, while also optimizing the vehicle fleet, increasing grid reliability, and improving the quality of power delivered. The system also generates an event history and operational indices, standardizing procedures.
